Double Fiddles: Iain MacGillivray & Chuck Butler

Iain MacGillivray - fiddle/pipes

Iain is one of Scotland's fresh new talents in traditional music. He is the son of former Battlefield Band piper, Duncan MacGillivray (currently with the band the Ghillies). Iain is both a talented fiddler, and also a third-generation piper - following in the footsteps of his father, Duncan, and his grandfather, Donald - both Gold Medallist pipers.

Iain performs in Scotland with his father, Duncan MacGillivray and also in the traditional group the Barn Boys when not touring with Double Fiddles.

Chuck Butler - fiddle

Chuck carries on a third-generation family fiddle tradition from County Donegal in Ireland and an upbringing in Cape Breton music as well. His family’s music traditions come from Ireland, Cape Breton, and Newfoundland.

Chuck is a seasoned veteran of recording projects and concert and festival performance both as a soloist and collaborating with other noted artists in the US and Canada. He also tours with the internationally-acclaimed band Mcinnis' Kitchen when not performing with Double Fiddles.

Jim Ofsthun - bodhrán/whistle/vocals

Jim is a talented performer highly praised for his command of the bodhrán and for his rich baritone voice. He is a respected veteran producer and arranger in Celtic music and has numerous recording projects and major performances to his credit over his extensive music career.

Jim is co-founder of the group WIllowgreen that enjoyed a well-respected 25 year legacy in the industry. Jim currently performs with the band McInnis' Kitchen when not touring with the band Double Fiddles.

Sue Spencer - guitar/vocals

Sue is a veteran of performance and numerous recording projects, including her own solo project. Sue has been nominated twice for the prestigious Hall of Honour award from the Newfoundland & Labrador Arts Council for her contribution to Newfoundland traditional music culture.

Sue is one of the founding members of the successful band Willowgreen. Sue currently performs in the internationally-popular band McInnis' Kitchen in addition to her concert performances with the group Double Fiddles.
